How to read personal care format shifts without chasing every novelty
Personal care shelves fill quickly with limited editions, travel sizes, and texture variants that look decisive in a single store visit. A gel-cream that appears in three banners one month can vanish by the next campaign window.
Start with a twelve-week view of the same bay roles, not a single Saturday walk. Mark Vietnamese holiday campaign periods on the same notes. Formats that appear only inside those windows rarely justify a permanent assortment change on their own.
Next, separate format from claim. A new jar shape with the same hydration story as last year is packaging theatre; a new texture with consistent claim language across banners is closer to a real shift. Photograph both, then write one sentence that names the difference.
Finally, share a one-paragraph interpretation with your team before the assortment meeting. Force a claim: seasonal noise, lasting format move, or claim-cluster crowding. Without that claim, shelf photos become decoration rather than guidance.
